Score: 8.8

Appearance and Construction: The wrapper on this Corojo stick has the delicious appearance of milk chocolate. The wrapper has a fairly significant amount of veins and a lot of tooth to it. The foot and the cap appear to be loosely packed despite the cigar having a nice weight to it. The band of the cigar denotes it is part of the Famous Private Selection and the back side denotes the 70th anniversary. There is a secondary band letting you know the cigar is produced by Perdomo.

Flavor & Notes: The pre-light offers an amazing pre-light draw of caramel and nuts with a touch of raisin. The notes of raisin are more abundant off the scent of the foot of this stick. I was eager to light the cigar at this point and the first third offered notes of wood with a hint of raisins that was joined by nutty notes as we entered the second third. The second third the nutty notes took over with easily defined wood in the background. The final third of the cigar is a really smooth mix of wood and nutty notes.

Burn/Ash/Draw: The cigar has a pretty jagged burn line, but it never hinted that it would get out of hand. The ash has some flake to it and was light gray in color. The draw has a slight resistance to it that helped this cigar approach a 2 hour burn.

Overall: The cigar had two strikes against it to start: 1) I am not a fan of the Churchill size, and 2) I am not a fan of Perdomo cigars. So, with two strikes I was surprised that this turned into a bloop base hit. While not a home run, this cigar was enjoyable enough where I might visit them in the Robusto size.

Appearance and Construction (20%): 16
Flavor & Notes (30%): 27
Burn/Ash/Draw (25%): 24
Overall (25%): 21
Final Score: 88

Oops, you've done it again!! Another fantastic cigar from Famous! The smoke I find is more on the medium side with excelent firm ash, a wonderfull aroma that even my wife likes. A great draw and truly one of the best " puros " I've smoked!! I'd like, NO, I Demand that Famous make them a permanent offering to their "Famous Private Selection" line. Thank You Arthur Zaretsky, Job well done!!
