Conuco Double Corona cigars are an exclusive premium cigar selection handcrafted for the cigar smoker who wants a full-flavored cigar at a sensible price. Pronounced koh-noo-koh, a lusciously oily Habano wrapper caps a blend of Honduran, Costa Rican, Nicaraguan, and Panamanian tobaccos with a healthy dose of Ligero. The smoke is sweet, creamy, and balanced, blooming into a savory pastiche of earthy, caramelized flavors with a dash of coffee on the finish. Be sure to add these to your 'must smoke' list.

The Conuco Double Corona has a lovely smooth, oily, dark chocolate colored wrapper, it is very well made and firm. The cap is flat and cuts cleanly; the cigar is heavy in the hand and the draw is perfect, medium-firm. The pre light gives deep flavors of sweet, mature tobacco, slight fruity notes, and aromas of earth and cocoa.

The first third is rich with sweet tobacco flavors mingled with caramel and cocoa, honey sweet aromas, plus floral and slightly musty notes of vintage tobaccos; a wonderful surprise for me. The finish is lightly lingering, clean and dry, with dusty notes. There is a faint essence of herbs; really tasty and enjoyable.

The second third provides caramel and deep tobacco flavors, hints of coffee, and lightly oaky notes. There is a light saltiness in the taste that I enjoy a lot. This is an interesting and complex flavor profile, very compelling. There are intermittent flavor notes of dark chocolate and brown sugar aromas well integrated into the overall presentation.

The final third picks up in intensity. The flavors are very bold and tasty. Big aromas of oak and cocoa, leather nuances, coffee and caramel on the palate. The light mustiness is still present toward the end; very enjoyable. It is rare to encounter this particular characteristic in a young cigar. It generally only shows up in vintage cigars of great age. I am totally impressed with this Conuco selection.

The overall package is a huge winner for me. It has an excellent complex flavor profile, wonderful aromas, great balance and very compelling. The burn was very even, the cigar stayed cool and fragrant; a well made example of a double corona.

I rate this cigar 7 out of 10 in strength.
