Score: 9.5

By Tom Bullock (Pleasant Garden, NC)

The pre-smoke displayed a wonderfully shiny, dark chocolate colored wrapper in a firm and very heavy 6½" x 54 Double Corona-class vitola.

The draw was medium ,yielding a sweet, mature tobacco taste, the aroma gave hints of honey, the texture and feel are pleasant and promise good things to come. I lit the cigar by match. The burn was even, and the initial rise was sweet and rich, with notes of cedar and cinnamon.

The first third offered several layers of flavor, I detected honey, light leather aromas and taste, hickory nuts, all in a rich and palate-filling smoke. The second third was even more enjoyable. The flavors developed into alternating caramel and chocolate notes, some light pepper on the tongue, a brief note of licorice, all wrapped in a velvety smooth palate and aroma; very rich and satisfying. The final third was remarkably like the second, adding a light salty taste, some cedar and light spice. The flavors built to a peak, staying full and in harmony, until the point where I was forced to put it down.

My overall impression of this cigar was completely positive. The diverse flavors were harmonious and multilayered, and the aromas were a symphony; always very full and rich, never harsh or over powering,. The burn on this cigar was the best I have ever seen on a vitola of this size; perfect all the way.

I give this cigar top marks, the experience was  extraordinary. I would give this a strength rating of 7.5 out of 10, and gave the cigar an overall rating of 9.5. I will certainly get a good supply of this cigar, and I look forward to trying it every six months or so as the cigars mature.

I was gifted with one of these and let it sit in my humidor to even out a bit. The cigar was well made, burned evenly, and had a nice draw. This is not a bad cigar in any way, but the flavor did not change throughout. If you look at the size of these things, to have the same flavor from start to finish is far from exciting. I found it to be much too mild for my liking. It didn't taste bad or bitter, but it just didn't deliver what I expect from a cigar. Give this a try and see what you think. The flavor just failed to impress me enough to go out and buy a box.

Give it another try

I'm not sure what all the bad reviews are for. I bought two of these at my local shop and sat them in the humi for about 4 months. I smoked one last night by a camp fire, and boy, the spices woke me up and the aroma of the smoke was toasty, dark, and abundant! Very powerful but not harsh and no bite. The finish was a bit eh, but 3/4 was good. Both of mine were tunnel free, and put out a nice 1.5 in of ash before it fell off by itself. Don't write this 'gar off...

Spicy, full flavored winner.

Judging from the reviews, there must be some inconsistencies in this cigar but I havenÂ’t found them. IÂ’m on my third box and all have been very good. This cigar is full bodied with cider and cocoa spice. Like the Medalist, the burn can be a bit erratic but not uncontrollable. I like this cigar better than the Medalist for itÂ’s consistency on the finish.

Dont get Discouraged after the first.

I bought a Box of the Culture pretty cheap on an auction. I was not to fond of the first one I had the day they arrived. I let them age for about a month in a good humi. and i'm glad I gave them another shot, the second was amazing. I usually smoke a Partagas Black or an A Fuente I would say this is pretty comparable however it is not as hard hitting as the Partagas Blk.

BAD BAD BAD!!!

I'm pretty sure this is the WORST Cigar I've Ever had! I'm no beginner and I love full flavored cigars, but this just tasted horrible. You want full flavor go for the RP The Edge Corojo, the RP Rosado or the Alec Bradley Medalist and stay the hell away from this thing!!!

Gary Aptaker of CA nailed this cigar to a tee. Just a bad all-around smoke. I wonder how many he gave away? My friends weren't interested.

Bad burn, funky taste, tough draw...not one of my favorites. But the free lighter works great!

These would be a bargain at twice the price.

I would put these up against ANY cigar at as much as twice the going price. They are robust, yet smooth, and burn very slowly, with a perfect ash.

My wife and I attended you MAXX event on 01/20/07. I tried the free Culture that you gave out. It starts out tame and then takes off. This is a fabulous bold cigar not for the timid. Thank you for the enjoyable smoke and kind hospitality. I bought a box of the Curve. I can't wait to light one up.
