Leather cigar case issues

Q. I have a beautiful leather pocket 2-cigar tube case. It doesn't have any sort of humidification device. Do they make such a thing? Also, how long will the cigars stay fresh, and does the leather help or hinder freshness? To be clear, the leather is not that thick, just enough to protect the cigars.
- K.C. in Livermore, CA

A. I'm not aware of a humidifier that would fit in a case with only two cigars, unless it was one that could be placed flat on the bottom of the case, which will also take up a little extra space.

Many leather cases tend to have rough interiors, and can also absorb the moisture from your cigars in as short a time as one day, so it would be better to put your cigars in the case in their cello wrappers. If the cellos have already been removed, put the cigars in aluminum tubes first, then in the case. (See the "Le Tube" double cigar case.)

Another option would be to invest in a high quality case made of soft calf's leather, like the Davidoff leather cigar case shown above.
