A. Interesting question. If by "type" you mean the wrapper, specific name of the cigar, shape or series, then think about this: over time, most experienced cigar smokers just know or remember what the cigars are, and you will, too.

In some cases, the bands do have the "model" or line extension on them, and the size and shape are almost always shown on the box or bundle. If not, you can always look it up in your account info on the website where you purchased the cigars, or check back with the store where you bought them.

The best way to go might be to keep a journal of your cigars; IOW a notebook where you can paste in the band and write up the blend information, size, your tasting comments, etc.
