City law says businesses must ban minors or build a separate smoking room if they want to allow smoking.
It's not just bars and restaurants impacted by the new ordinance. The city says even if a law firm or doctors office didn't allow smoking before, it's now required to put up signs. There are three signs available depending on what the business decides. You can print the signs off of the city's website.
A city inspector signed off on a smoking room at Players Sports Bar and Grill in west Wichita around three o'clock int he afternoon. It was the city's first smoking room permit.
On Wednesday night, Brint's Diner in south Wichita took the ashtrays off the tables, and workers put up no smoking signs Thursday morning.
