CONSHOCTON, OH - The agreement among some of the businesses which have not received exemption from Ohio's impending smoking ban, is that the ban will hurt their business. People like Mike Wright, manager of the American Legion, are expecting business to drop about 50%. Already struggling since Ohio changed its law regarding the dollar amount clubs are allowed to keep (for expenses) from charitable gambling, veterans' clubs will have yet another hill to climb. A safe retreat for many veterans, clubs across the country have been facing increasing pressure to become smoke-free in order to appease a more family-friendly atmosphere. As Mike Wright put it simply, "There's some irony in the government telling veterans who belong to the American Legion they can't smoke in the establishment.
