South Dakota may soon be doubling down on smoking, that is, banning smoking in bars and casinos.
South Dakota has a smoking ban already, limited to places of employment and indoor public areas, but now the group South Dakota Tobacco-Free Kids network is hoping a ban will filter into all bars and casinos as well.
North Sioux City casinos have enjoyed the increased business since Iowa put a smoking ban in place in July, but now they may be feeling the burn as the state legislature is slated to consider a complete ban during the 2009 session. The city's casinos predict it could be a very costly gamble.
