KANSAS CITY, MO - How does a business avoid losing its high number of smoking customers to private clubs which are still allowed to permit smoking under the current ban? Become one of them. That's just what a few businesses have done, much to the dismay of anti-smoking advocates. In order to offer a smoking environment to their patrons, a few businesses have now begun to charge annual membership fees to qualify as private clubs. It's amazing to hear how - even with clearly displayed signs warning of smoking being permitted in a private, membership only environment - anti-smoking advocates still have a problem with people having a choice in the matter. I suppose the silver lining is they haven't attempted to ban smoking in homes, like Belmont, CA is proposing early in January (yet anyway.) Read more from Missouri
