AS a non-smoker and a passionate teetotaller, I am nonetheless concerned at the disturbing impact that Ireland’s smoking ban is having on the traditional Irish pub.
The decline of the traditional pub throughout these islands will result in overall negative consequences, such as an increase in social isolation in rural communities, a surge in binge drinking in private houses, a loss in tourism revenue and a decline in British and Irish cultural traditions.
