GLENDORA, CA - The city on Tuesday joined a growing number of municipalities nationally that ban smoking in public parks.
The City Council voted 4-0 to prohibit the use of any lighted tobacco or plant product in city parks and public facilities. Councilman Mark Kelly was absent from the meeting.
"It's a sign of the times," said Mayor Ken Herman, adding that he is a former smoker who now is offended by secondhand smoke. "It's just an awareness that this is something that people are objecting to more and more."
