According to this report from
KQHA-TV (IA), bars and restaurants are seeing the rise of a new problem linked to the statewide smoking ban.
With smoking no longer allowed inside bars and restaurants, customers have been forced to go outside to smoke.
Because of this bar owners are beginning to see a lot of cigarette butts piling up in front of their businesses.
Some owners told us not only does it make their business look less clean, but it gives them extra work.
We talked with Chintz's owner Kathy Goldie and Driftwoods co-owner David Vestal about this extra work.
"Well we have to clean the sidewalk everyday now," said Goldie. "If not once, twice. We have to maintain the back parking lot more than we ever had to."
