New research claims more than 700 pubs have closed in Scotland since the smoking ban was introduced.
Using figures from an industry database, researchers found a close relationship between the introduction of the ban and a decline in the number of pubs.
The report, commissioned by the drinks industry backed pro-smoking Save Our Pubs & Clubs campaign, claims the ban had more impact on the pub trade than other factors, such as the recession, alcohol duty or supermarket competition.
