AUSTIN, TX - A federal ruling has taken some of the heat off business owners when it comes to enforcing the existing smoking ban. This puts the compliance responsibility on the shoulders of those who choose to light up. With this new ruling, business owners are required to post "No Smoking" signs and remove all ashtrays, however that is where their responsibility ends. Each individual smoker has to take ownership of his or her actions, and if caught smoking within a restricted zone, could receive up to a $500 fine.
