It remains unclear why Sen. Vivian Figures’ continued push to ban smoking in most public places in Alabama is stonewalled in the Legislature.
Second- hand smoke is especially dangerous to children, particularly those with asthmatic difficulties or respiratory infections, and isn’t the best pollutant the non-smoking population should be inhaling against their choosing. Why would anyone want to subject others to something that can be harmful? If people choose to smoke tobacco products, which are proven to be harmful to one’s health, that’s their prerogative, and they should have the absolute right to do so.
