PHILADELPHIA, PA - Mayor John Street has approved a smoking ban in Philly that will go into effect January, 2007. The ban includes restaurants and most bars, but will exempt sidewalk cafes, specialty tobacco establishments, private clubs and casinos. A gradual ban will effect neighborhood taverns (establishments which receive 90% or more of their revenue from drink sales alone) - they will have 2 years to become smoke free.
