NEW ALBANY, IN - The city of New Albany, like many other cities nationwide, is likely to pass an ordinance banning smoking in public places. However, being such a
hot topic and lacking widespread support among residents, Councilman Larry Kochert has decided it would be best to wait until after the new year to bring the issue before City Council. Mayor James Garner is still undecided as far as his stance on the issue, but is evaluating it. He's actively "talking to people, and trying to see if it's enforceable," and intends to "do whatever the will of the people may be."
