Long Beach's smoke ban snuffed - Burton puffs, proposal shelved

LONG BEACH, MS - The wheels came off Alderman Richard Burton's smoking-ban bandwagon for this city Tuesday. He was called out for his own puffing in public, and his proposed ban was shelved.

"Richard, you're a hypocrite for standing at that door, smoking three or four feet (from the building) every Tuesday that I'm here," Alderman Mark Lishen said.

"I'm trying to quit. I'm addicted," Burton replied. "What can I say?"
