With Election Day looming, the back-and-forth over a proposed Springfield smoking ordinance flared Friday.
The spark: a dispute over whether the measure would ban smoking in city parks.
Opponents of the ban contend a provision in the proposal related to playgrounds is worded so broadly it affects a range of city parks.
