ROXBURY, NJ - The Smiles II go-go bar is going to be appealing $35,000 in fines it was handed by Roxbury Municipal Court Judge Carl Wronko after being found guilty of 35 charges related to the disregard of the smoking ban that's been in place since January. Jeffrey Advokat, Smile II's attorney, has cited flaws with the smoking law itself for the basis of their appeal. Feeling Smiles II should be considered a cigar bar, thus considered exempt by the law, Advokat stresses the fact that he believes "it's almost impossible to comply with all of the administrative requirements in order to be exempt from the non-smoking law." We will see how this plays out in court, but for now Smiles II is complying with the law. Apparently, the smiles will continue regardless of the smoking status. Read more from New Jersey
