Legislature made the right decision last year in rejecting statewide prohibition(

A year after it fizzled in the Kansas Legislature, a proposed statewide smoking ban hasn't improved with age.
Proponents of a border-to-border prohibition on indoor smoking in public places have reloaded for another fight after being rebuffed last year, when lawmakers scuttled a proposed ban by adding a provision allowing counties to opt out.
We didn't support the ban in 2007, and we still don't today.
Gov. Kathleen Sebelius, state legislators and others who have joined forces to campaign for the ban say their goal is to improve health conditions in Kansas, and we appreciate their conviction to that objective.
But unfortunately, health isn't the only consideration in the ban.
Personal freedom of choice weighs heavily in the issue, too.
