East proposes roll back of indoor-smoking ban

Winston-Salem Journal logoRALEIGH --An area legislator has proposed a rollback of the state's indoor smoking ban that would allow smoking in bars and other places where only adults can congregate.

But even state Sen. Don East, who's sponsoring the bill, doesn't expect it to pass.

He said he introduced Senate Bill 469 after some tobacco companies asked him to. He said he told them, "There's not a lot of support for that bill."
