CORPUS CHRISTI - After nearly two hours of a sometimes heated debate Tuesday, the Corpus Christi City Council has given final approval to an expansion of the city's ban on smoking.
The new ordinance, which will go into effect April 15, will include bars, billiard parlors and bowling alleys are locations that had been excluded from the current ban. In addition, the new smoking ban will make it illegal for someone to smoke within 10 feet of a public doorway, unless the person is walking by.
Bingo halls must have a separate smoking area.
