Council discusses smoking ban

The issue of a proposed smoking ordinance drew the most interest, even though it wasn’t discussed during the regular Corsicana council meeting. Instead, the conversation took place during the informal pre-meeting work session Tuesday.

The proposal was made by members of IMPACT Corsicana, V.O.I.C.E. and Boys and Girls Club of Navarro County to ban smoking in all workplaces in the city, including restaurants.

Although people were aligned on both sides of the issue, the arguments came down to civil liberties versus the right to a smoke-free environment.
