The City Council is poised today to adopt rules that will make San Antonio smoke-free — after more than four months of rancorous debate and a much quieter last-minute round of deal-making.
San Antonio is expected to become the latest on a list of communities across Texas and the nation to adopt smoke-free policies. In this state, cities from Abilene to El Paso, Laredo to Marshall — by way of Houston, Dallas and Austin — have banned indoor smoking and are designated by Americans for Nonsmokers Rights as smoke-free cities.
