If you've been following this section the past several days, then you've seen the reports on the Pennsylvania smoking ban compromise. On Thursday, I received the following message from Chris McCalla, Legislative Director of the IPCPR (form. RTDA). If you're a Pennsylvania resident, I urge you to read it and take action. - G.K
Urge your Elected Representatives to Vote Yes on SB246
On June 4th, the Pennsylvania Senate voted 31-19 against a compromise bill to ban smoking in most workplaces and public spaces in the State, while the House passed the measure in a 163-38 vote.
Senate Bill 246 emerged from its conference committee (made up of both state representatives and senators) with several legitimate exemptions, most importantly exempting retail tobacco shops, cigar bars, and qualifing bars and taverns.
Contact your elected representatives today and urge them to support SB246.
