CHIPPEWA FALLS- The proposed smoking ban in Chippewa Falls is officially dead, said Councilman Brian Flynn. The City Council voted 5-2 Tuesday to wait for the state to act on any ban.
"I believe, right now, it's done for the city of Chippewa Falls," Flynn said. "I'm happy with the decision we made, and I think it's the right decision. I think we've been able, once and for all, to put this issue to rest."
Councilman Bob Hoekstra, who supported a smoking ban, said he was disappointed that the city's public safety committee halted talks on a measure.
