Businesses become the target of strict enforcement

The health department in Lexington, KY has increased its enforcement of the indoor smoking ban by targeting businesses for compliance. The enforcement is now handled by in-house environmentalists in greater numbers than the 2 privately contracted employees who previously enforced the ban. A record number of citations were issued last month with some businesses receiving citations on average once a week.
