¡Hola CigarAdvisor.com readers! I'm writing to you from the Plasencia Factory in beautiful El Paraiso, Honduras. This is the first chance I've had to get a signal since I arrived here three days ago. Having a wonderful time seeing the factories, sampling new cigar blends with Hal and Arthur, and enjoying great company with all
of the wonderful people here.
I also shot some good video at the Plasencia Factory in Danli, and yesterday I was taken on a field trip, thanks to Nimish Desai of Rocky Patel cigars, to the box-making factory in Danli, then out to the tobacco curing barns, and finally, the fields where they are currently planting new tobacco. Got some more good video there, all of which will eventually be linked here for your edification.
Of course, it's one thing to read about the tobacco-making process or look at pictures, but when you see it in action, in-person, including the labor that goes into making the boxes, you have a whole new appreciation for premium handmade cigars.
After our meeting here in El Paraiso this afternoon, we head to Esteli, Nicaragua. We'll be traveling with Nestor Plasencia Jr. Since I don't have a lot of time right now, I have to keep it short, but once we get settled in Esteli, I'll be posting again as soon as I can.
Adios amigos, and happy smokes,
~Gary
