Deirdre Marie Capone is a 70-year-old grandmother married for 47 years and living in a Lee County gated community.
All her life, though, she’s lived with the aura of the Capone name, a sometimes troubling association with the most famous gangster in history, her great uncle Al Capone.
She’s written a book, due in stores this week, called “Uncle Al Capone.” On the cover is a photo of a stout, smiling and apparently benign Uncle Al, thumbs hooked in his slacks pockets, and three cigars poking from the pocket of a short-sleeved sports shirt.
