It all started when Jose Blanco of
La Aurora Cigars was given the new Stinky Cigar Ashtray - "
Herf Edition" from Stinky Cigar in February 2007. Now, this is one "mofo" of an ashtray. It has a three gallon capacity!
According to the Stinky Cigar website, those who saw Jose's humungous ashtray in his office bet he couldn't fill it up before the end of the year. So Jose came up with the idea of running a contest to see if anyone could guess how many cigars it would take to fill it completely. It took 10 months, but he accomplished his goal, and filled the Stinky Cigar Ashtray Herf Edition to the brim, and then some.
In December 2007, Jose photographed the ashtray (see above) filled with 3-gallons of ash from his and his visitor's cigars only. Note that there are no butts, cellophane, bands, or other waste - just La Aurora cigar ashes.
