Legislation Proposes Institution of 59.2% Excise Tax Rate
The Pennsylvania legislature is currently considering House Bill 57. This bill proposes a new tax to be levied on other tobacco products (OTP)--including
cigars. There is currently no tax on cigars or others tobacco products other than cigarettes.
At this time, lobbyists and industry members are working to defeat HB57 in its entirety. At this time, the bill's fate is not known.
