OGDENSBURG - The Ogdensburg City Council voted down a proposed smoking ban for the second time in a little under a year.
After a lengthy discussion, councilors voted 5-2 against the proposal, which banned smoking in city parks and on playgrounds, athletic fields and beaches. Councilor Nicholas J. Vaugh and Mayor William D. Nelson supported the ban.
In the discussion portion of the meeting, the council agreed to put up signs at the entrances of city parks, recommending visitors not smoke to help keep the city clean and its residents healthy.
