TAMPA, FL - The Tampa-based Cigar Family Charitable Foundation launched a new state of the art website this week in an effort to aid children in one of the poorest regions of the Dominican Republic. The site,
www.cf-cf.org, gives visitors the opportunity to experience the sights and sounds of the region, while learning of the issues facing its people.
With a student’s desk as the starting point, the website guides viewers on a tour through the foundation’s complex. The site allows the user to explore a wide array of problems families are dealing with, from clean drinking water to health care, and what is being done to help. Guests are given the option to not only give to the cause, but individualize their gift to a particular issue. Unlike many charitable organizations, donors have a direct say in where their money goes.
The Cigar Family Charitable Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization founded in 2001 by the Fuente and Newman families, serving the children and families in the Bonao region of the Dominican Republic. What started as an addition of a small wing onto a local school has grown into an entire community complex; complete with a school system, health care center, sports facility and community outreach area. Thanks to these efforts, former widespread problems such as malnutrition have been completely wiped out. Since administrative costs are underwritten, 100 percent of donations go directly to help the families of the Dominican Republic. For more information please visit www.cf-cf.org. £
