Historic building will be mothballed while restoration plan is drafted.BARTOW | Bartow's Community Redevelopment Agency pledged $75,000 Wednesday to mothball the community's historic cigar factory, inching the building that much closer to restoration.
The county owns the 85-year-old building, and will transfer it to the city if Bartow meets certain conditions. One of those is assurance of funding to seal the building until a restoration plan can be drafted.
The other is an environmental assessment to determine how badly the building is contaminated.
