Mystery novelist, columnist, salsa maker and cigar entrepreneur Kinky Friedman was at Heroes & Legacies cigar store Friday night to sign books, promote his line of cigars and talk about another run for governor — as a Democrat.
"This is the right race at the right time," Friedman said. "This feels really good."
Friedman, who ran as an independent in 2006, garnered less than 13 percent of the vote. A small but steady stream of supporters waited in line to talk and take pictures with the jack of all trades.
Friedman joked with fans but largely held back on one-liners when talk turned to politics.
