If you've been following the early stages of the 2008 presidential campaign, you may have gotten wind of activist/director Michael Moore's recent message to Fred Thompson in which he criticizes the former Tennessee Senator's proclivity for Cuban cigars. Moore accused Thompson of having several boxes of Montecristos - allegedly Havanas - on his desk. I say "allegedly" because unless you really look closely, the
Dominican Montecristo box and the Cuban Montecristo box are almost identical.
This all came about as a result of Thompson's criticism of Moore's recent visit to Cuba. Moore, who was accompanied by a group of 9/11 first-responders who have been suffering from the effects of working at Ground Zero, claims Cuba's healthcare system is far better than that of the good ol' US of A.
To read the entire rebuttal story see "Fred Thompson, Michael Moore Go Head to Head, Sort of" at FoxNews.com. The article also includes a link to Mr. Thompson's response to Moore. If you want to skip the story and go right to the videotape, click here. It's perfect, and I couldn't have said it better myself.
To read Moore's original remarks, including some enlightening information about the filmmaker by a Columbine survivor who appeared in Moore's documentary, Bowling for Columbine, read Owen Courrèges's very astute blog titled, "Michael Moore issues challenge to Fred Thompson" at LoneStarTimes.com. £
