Kinky Friedman, the Lone Star renaissance man, has recorded music, written novels, sold cigars and saved thousands of animals. Last year the Jewish cowboy ran for governor of Texas as an Independent, and lost.
"If God had run as an Independent, he wouldn't have won," Friedman writes in his new book, "You Can Lead a Politician to Water, But You Can't Make Him Think: 10 Commandments for Texas Politics" (Simon & Schuster, $22).
