The latest issues of Smoke and Cigar Insider publications just awarded cigars from Toraño Cigars "best" ratings for two of their cigar brands, both made in Honduras. This fortifies their position as "Best Honduran Cigar Maker," an award they earned earlier this year from European Cigar Cult Journal, the continents leading cigar publication.
The four-person review panel of Smoke magazines Fall, 2005 issue awarded the Carlos Toraño Signature Collection Perfecto a 9.5 (out of 10), the highest figure of any cigar in the publications history. Two reviewers called it perfect, and no reviewers score fell below 9.2, with one rating it at 9.7. The full-bodied cigar has a dark, oily Brazilian wrapper, with Dominican and Nicaraguan filler and a Connecticut broadleaf binder. Suggested retail price is $6.30.
Cigar Insiders October online issue published their list of Best Connecticut Cigars Since 2000, and Toraño cigars filled almost one-quarter of the survey, with 3 of the 13 slots being filled by Carlos Toraño Reserva Selecta shapes. All three earned 90 (out of 100) in Cigar Aficionado reviews: the Torpedo (August, 2003, $7.62 MSRP), Petit Corona (April, 2002, $6.26), and Churchill (August, 2002, $7.30). The Carlos Toraño Reserva Selecta is a mild-to-medium cigar, with Dominican, Honduran, and Nicaraguan filler and a Connecticut shade wrapper. Its luxury image is enhanced by a cedar half-sheath and crystal tube presentation. Toraño Cigars, a fourth -generation family-owned tobacco and cigar producer that also has factories in the Dominican Republic and Nicaragua. All cigars are available at better tobacco retailers everywhere.
