Last week at the IPCPR show in Las Vegas, I had the pleasure of meeting Michael Herklots, general manager of the Davidoff cigar stores on Madison Avenue and Columbus Circle in New York City. Usually seen wearing his trademark pinstripe suit, Michael's incredibly knowledgeable on premium
handmade cigars, and is also a regular contributor to
CigarReportDaily.com.
Today I received my Cigar Report Daily "Weekly Smoke" email. Featured in this issue were some CigarTV videos by Michael Herklots on tasting cigars, and since I just wrote a blog on cigars and taste buds, I thought it would be a good tie-in.
Michael points out that there's a difference between just smoking a cigar and tasting it. Presented in two parts, "Tasting a Cigar" covers the aesthetic and flavor aspects of a cigar before lighting. "Tasting a Cigar Part II" delves more into what you taste in a cigar after lighting, including the cigar's " finish." The videos are geared for new cigar smokers, but cigar smoking veterans may pick up a few new facts, too.
Click here to watch "Tasting a Cigar" parts I and II. You'll also find a couple of other good cigar tip videos by Michael there, too.
Enjoy and learn.
