How often have you been in a situation where you have to put your cigar down and smoke it later, or even the next day? After doing a survey on how many cigar smokers smoke re-lit cigars, I wrote a blog about "morning after cigars." For the article I smoked an Alec Bradley Tempus, which I let go out and re-lit the next day. Fortunately, it held up pretty well under "normal" circumstances. But not all cigars will.
I recently received a product sample from a company called Repuff. They make a solution that, when applied to a hot cigar ash, not only puts the cigar out, but keeps the cigar from tasting bitter upon relighting.
After reviewing the materials, I called Dane Maralason, the president of the company, and told him I would give it a try only for the purpose of seeing if it really works. Even if the results were negative I would still publish them, and he was fine with that.
So what is Repuff? According to the manufacturer, "
Repuff is a Patent Pending formula which is made from the concentrates and extracts of the sap of a cactus, the juice of a fruit, the same preservatives (Potassium Sorbate and Sodium Benzoate) that are found in wine and health foods, and a small amount of food coloring to provide a consistent appearance."
I thought the best way to do the test Repuff would be to do a video demonstration. To see how Repuff worked out for my test cigar, a La Flor Dominicana Air Bender Guerrero, watch the video below:
After I shot the video, I tested the product again on the same cigar with the same results. (_[ca]__{{{

FOR THE RECORD: Famous Smoke Shop does not sell Repuff, and the video should not be construed as an advertisement for it. If you like what you see and would like to purchase Repuff from Famous Smoke Shop, send me an email and I'll speak to our buyer about carrying it.
