On March 13-15, 2009, the annual La Gloria Cubana® Super Roll® cigar rolling competition will kick-off the annual Calle Ocho festival, the word’s largest block party which brings the spirit of Carnival to Little
Havana. The competition will be held at the El Credito Cigar Factory the nation’s oldest operating cigar factory where world-renowned, Cuban expatriate cigar rollers engage in the art of handcrafting
La Gloria Cubana cigars.
Outfitted with a chaveta (a blade for cutting tobacco leaves) and characterized by their quest for victory, six consumer finalists will receive one-on-one instruction from the authentic cigar rollers of the El Credito® cigar factory which handcrafts internationally renowned La Gloria Cubana cigars. In order to make it to the Super Roll, the finalists competed against thousands of other first-time cigar rollers at La Gloria Cubana Super Roll competitions held across the U.S. in 2008.
The ultimate rolero (cigar roller) who rolls the best cigar will be inducted into the El Credito Cigar Factory’s Hall of Fame and will receive a custom-made humidor filled with 300 hand-crafted La Gloria Cubana cigars, plus a golden chaveta inscribed with the title of “2009 Super Roll Champion”.
La Gloria Cubana is rolling out the red carpet in Miami for the Super Rollers who won round-trip airfare for themselves and a guest. Each will be given the star treatment, with lavish accommodations at a beachfront hotel in South Beach, spa treatments and evenings at Miami’s top hotspots, including the acclaimed Club Macanudo® lounge at the Havana Club of Miami.
