Dominican cigars receive official "designation of origin" status

Earlier last month, I read in the news that the Dominican Republic had received a “designation of origin” for cigars made in that country.

Since I did not really understand what that would mean for the Dominican cigar industry, I thought I would go right to the source and ask my friends at La Aurora Cigars for an explanation.

Guillermo Leon, President of La Aurora Cigars and Hector Checo, Primary Process Coordinator for La Aurora were kind enough to respond to my inquiry.
