Q: I've seen
cigars sold in boxes, bundles and mazos. I understand boxes and bundles, but mazo's seem like the same thing. Is there a differance?
- Jeff in Longmont, CO
A: Good question. Not really. Mazos are ribbon-bound "bundles" of cigars that are made in the factory prior to going into the
box. From there, the next person unties the mazo and puts them into cellos. If the edition is a "
Cabinet Selection" they go right into the boxes, as-is. Some online cigar stores sell cigars in mazos or "wheels" rather than boxes. Essentially, you're getting the same thing, a box-worth of cigars, so your instinct was correct.
