Q. My question is about the size and shape of cigars. For example, does a Churchhill smoke better than a
Toro? Do they all smoke, taste and burn the same?
- Brian Renzi
A. It's really more of a preference thing that happens over time. However, proportion-wise - in terms of the amount of tobacco to the length of the cigar - the two most "ideal" shapes in terms of tasting what the master blender intended are the Corona, traditionally, 5½" x 42, and the Toro, traditionally 6" x 50. I tend to prefer the latter.
Robustos are also good for "sampling" a new brand. If you like to experiment, you will notice a difference between sizes among the same blend. Eventually you'll find the size and shape that best suits your taste, but over time you'll probably also prefer a certain size in one brand, another size in another brand, and so on.
