Q. I am not a regular cigar smoker, so I do not have a
humidor. I just bought a couple of boxes from [
Famous Smoke Shop] for my wedding in two weeks. One
box is the
Romeo y Julieta Cedro Delux 1 and I also got the
20 Great cigars and a few other loose ones. I am wondering what would be best for these cigars to prepare them for the wedding. A friend of mine suggested that I can bring them to a proper cigar store and ask if I can store them there. Another friend told me to put the cigars in a Tupperware box with a little bit of water in a small bowl. I went to a small shop, and they suggested a small plastic bowl that they sell to put in the box. (it had a plastic seal that you remove and lasts 30 days) Any suggestions? If I do either, should I unwrap the Romeo y Julieta? The box and the cigars? Thanks for the help.

A. First, congrats on your pending nuptials. Secondly, if the boxes have just arrived, and the wedding is in two weeks, just keep them sealed. They can last that way for several weeks. Then either keep them in a cool, dark space until the big day. Or, if you want that extra level of protection, place them in a large Tupperware container. The container is air-tight, so between the container and the factory sealing, they should easily last until then. If you have a basement that’s cool and a little on the damp side, store them there.
Finally, I wouldn’t take them to a cigar store, especially if you didn't buy them there, unless you are on very good terms with the manager.
