Oops! I soaked my cigars

Q: I have accidentally soaked five of my cigars. Any suggestions on how I can "save" these cigars? faucet
- Len S. in Rio Verde, AZ

A: Of course, it depends on just how "soaked" the cigars are. If they're completely saturated, there may be no hope, plus you run the risk of them becoming moldy. But if they're more on the damp side, I suggest letting them dry-out naturally by placing them in an open container on a paper towel. You may even have to turn them every so often to help them dry evenly.

Also, if you have any cedar spacer blocks from your cigar boxes, or something similar, you can try resting the cigars horizontally on them ( head and feet positioned on the blocks) so air can flow around them.

Whatever you do, do not put the cigars back in the humidor. That will only make matters worse. See what condition they're in once they've had a chance to dry. It could take a while. They may not be as pretty as they were before, or taste as good either, plus you still have the chance they could develop mold. So. no guarantees, and good luck.
