Q. Is it possible to tell from the cigar's
band alone which version of a given cigar it is? For example, I have an Arturo Fuente Gran Reserva that measures about 6¾" x 44 - probably a
lonsdale. I can't tell from the
CigarCyclopedia whether it's a
Don Carlos or whatever. It came with a sampler, but no further info.

A. Based on its measurements, the cigar you refer to is most likely the
Arturo Fuente Privada #1 (
shown). With regard to which series the cigar is from, with
Arturo Fuente cigars you have to go by the colors of the bands. Red and green are the band colors of the their main line, Chateau, and
Selecion de Oro series. Red and black are used on the Don Carlos,
Hemingway (
perfecto tips only) and
Sun Grown lines. Also note that the Sun Grown (red/black) and Chateau (red/green) also come wrapped in
cedar sleeves. BTW, I believe
all Arturo Fuente bands say "Gran Reserva" on them.
