Cigar Monster Deal

"Fortaleza Tres" defined

Q. A couple of weeks ago you wrote a review of the new CAO LX2. In it you wrote: "...the second, butterfly-shaped band has the words, 'Fortaleza Tres' on it, which translates to 'three strengths.' (I'm looking into what that's all about)." Did you ever find out where the term comes from?
Thanks,
Big Mike in Venice, CA

A.
Actually, I did. I went to the source, Jon Huber at CAO, who wrote back:

"It's an old Cuban classification of strength. Fortaleza translates to 'strength' - Seco, Viso, and Ligero were classified as uno, dos, and tres, respectively. So ‘Fortaleza Tres’ was the term for ‘Ligero’ (and, of course, "Lx2" refers to “Ligero-times-Two”).
