First cigars in the U.S.

Q. I just started getting into smoking premium cigars. I'm also a history buff and curious about when cigars first appreared in the United States?

A. According to my research, the premium handrolled cigar (as we know it) was introduced to the United States in the late 18th century by Israel Putnam, an army general who served in the Revolutionary War. After the War General Putnam traveled to Cuba and returned with a box of Cuban cigars. And the rest is history!
